Kitchen Design in 3D

Door styles are the last thing we pick, not the first. Where the sink, the range and the fridge go is what makes a kitchen work, and all three are fixed by the room. Turn this one around and take it back to bare board.

The buttons step forward through the finishing, from the board up. Drag the room itself to turn it, over the top or underneath. The ceiling is left off so you can see in.

Easiest to see from counter height, with the model turned down.

This one is 26' by 17' at a 9' ceiling - a combined kitchen and dining in a new build here. The room, the glass, the services, the appliances and the cabinetry are all on screen. The button under the phases switches the under-cabinet lighting off, which is usually how people decide they want it.

Why the shell comes first

The sink goes under the window. This one has a 60" slider on the outside wall, so it does. The range needs an outside wall or a chase behind it, because the hood has to duct outside - not into a soffit or an attic, which is where we keep finding them. The fridge needs room for its door without somebody standing in the walkway.

Move one and the cabinets, the plumbing and the wiring all move with it. We would rather find out here that an island is 4" too wide (a nuisance on a screen, a change order on site).

The other two models take a wall apart: the basement from the concrete out, and the bathroom from the board up through the waterproofing.
